December 2016 Game Night

Paul, Pete, and I did our best but there was a lot of leftover beer, cookies, and chips. We can only do so much. Woe is me. What will I do? What will I do?

We did run through the bacon and pepperoni pizza nicely, however. Only two slices left for my brunch today.

On the bright side, there is about a 6-pack of various premium beers sitting in my fridge waiting for the next opportunity for drinking. Which might be Die Hard Christmas or January game night.

We managed four games, but were honestly a little loopy from the effects of the near-Everclear Bastard Beer (that's close to the actual name) that Pete procured from some back-alley micro-brewer in one of the shadier areas of Yspilanti, I believe.

Paul was literally losing small motor control (one tiny die still MIA and I've never seen a plate go flying on game night before) and Pete had to point out that I had nine points in one game--I honestly hadn't noticed.

But no structural damage.

And we played under the glow of my spectacular Christmas lighting and decorations.

With three players, there was little territorial conflict; but the robber seemed excessively active this night.

The dice were with me all night, I freely admit, and more than made up for robbers and BAC. I came away with 3 wins and Paul got 1.

I think Paul and I were the only ones who had victory point cards in the evening--one each. Funny how sometimes they seem to be dealt out and sometimes not.

And yes, I think I had longest road twice, notwithstanding my general opinion of seeking and defending the honor. But when rolling 3 got me two roads per roll--and they came up a lot--what's a Catanian to do?

Nobody ever got largest army although in one game Pete and I had two knights up before the game ended.

We called the evening not long after midnight and turned to Game of Thrones where we were up to season 2, episode 9 which featured the epic battle at King's Landing--as well as the usual paired suspects, as you know. I have all the seasons on disc so we can do this for quite some time.

We'll do it again in the new year! That could be a resolution for some of you who have expressed interest yet haven't made it lately. You know who you are.
