Gentlemen,
Pete,
Paul, Joe and myself competed on the 3D map with all-new 3D pieces,
thanks to Paul. We had European medieval, Chinese, Aztec, and Roman
themed pieces. We used the standard water frames and port pieces. maybe
we'll have 3D port pieces one day.
We
dined on tacquitos (chicken and cheese), some Italian wrap snacks, plus
corn chips and cheese and salsa dips, plus Cheetos (crunchy) and
chocolate cookies. Plus the official beer of game night.
We are getting better at the new game switch.
We
managed three games, finishing a half hour after midnight and then
watched the "red wedding" episode of game of thrones. (season 3 ep. 9).
We started from the beginning, I'll note, long ago. Coffee was served
for those in need of extra alertness on the drive home.
We
managed three games, won by Joe, Pete, and Paul. I was darned close in
one of the games when the bad initial rolls for resources finally
reversed and I had a run of good rolls! Close.
Joe's
win came despite invocation of the Pete and Joe Rules (stop the leader;
and stop Joe, respectively). Pete and Paul have pictures of the map
when I blocked Joe's longest road extension at one end. Oh, how I was
mocked! Joe can just go the other way and defend his road! Then Peter
blocked the other end. We all laughed very hard. Except Joe who clearly
has no sense of humor about such things.
Sadly,
Joe still managed to build a couple settlements to replace his longest
road and via those won a pure victory with no fancy points. It was a sad
day for Catan. Except for Joe.
Perhaps
Pete or Paul could respond to this email with a picture of the glorious
double block that they took. Although perhaps they are planning on
using them for commemorative plates or t-shirts, or something.
Pete
won a solid victory on the backs of a thundering largest army that we
could see coming a mile away but were powerless to stop. Kudos.
And
Paul won a victory with a freaking 5-segment longest road. Good God,
how is that even possible! I think Paul must have accumulated 4 points
on his winning turn with a fist-full of cards--I swear he 2D printed
extras.
I
think only one victory point card was pulled all night. I had it in one
game where I was a contender but not poised to win. And Joe probably
denied me a win when he took all my bricks (I had a brick port) with the
monopoly card. Sad.
Not many knights played. Not a big evening for lottery tickets, really. Odd sheep shortages, I think.
A fun night. Nobody needed to stay the night.
Worryingly, I slept the night fine despite the Ito-ish menu. My body may be adapting to it ...
Remember
that next month Joe will be hosting the game in South Lyon, to launch
his new home. We'll smash a 40-ouncer on the wall outside to commission
it, or something. New to follow on that front.
A fun time! Thanks for your continued support in making Game Night by Beej the social event it has become.
